When you talk to your data using Storytell, you’ll get a response in chat. But you can do much more with each response, using the Document Editor. Here’s what you need to know:

🚀 Pro-tip: Adding a Storytell response to your All Knowledge asset library lets you use that response as future knowledge to power Storytell interactions. Learn more below.

What you can do with the Editor:

The editor allows you to:

  • Edit Storytell’s responses

  • Share responses as a secret link

  • Download Storytell’s responses

  • And most powerfully: Add Storytell responses to your All Knowledge asset library so you can use them as assets to power future Storytell chats (Learn more about your knowledge library at All Knowledge Overview )

ℹ️ Did you know that you can turn Storytell responses into visuals like images, infographics, and word clouds with 1-click? Learn how to do it here.

Opening the Editor:

You can open the editor by clicking the Open Editor button on any Storytell response in a chat thread:

Working in the Editor:

Once in the Editor, you can:

  1. Add the response to your All Knowledge library: Doing this lets you use Storytell output as input to future Storytell interactions. If you’d like, you can first edit the response and then add it to your All Knowledge. By default, Storytell labels each asset with Generated by Storytell. You can use this label to create sophisticated Data Views — for example, excluding this label from data views you create if you don’t want to include any Storytell-generated content in your Data Views. You can learn more about working with Data Views here: Data Views Overview

  2. You can share Storytell’s responses by:

    1. Copying them with the copy button

    2. Copying them as Markdown if you need to put them into a blogging platform, or similar

    3. Downloading them as a PDF

    4. Creating a shareable “Secret Link” to share the response via URL. Note that only the original Storytell response can be shared via Secret Link — if you’ve edited it, you’d need to revert to the original version before you’ll be able to create a Secret Link.

  3. You can edit Storytell’s responses right in the Editor using WYSIWYG editing tools — just highlight the text you want to work with and then bold, italicize, create headers, etc.

  4. When you’re done, you can close the Editor by hitting the Close Editor button on the left-hand side, in the chat.
