Available tools

Before enabling any tools, it helps to understand what each one does and how it impacts Storytell’s responses. Tools control where Storytell gets information, what content it can analyze, and which outputs it can generate. Choosing the right combination ensures your prompts are handled efficiently and accurately.

Web Search

Finds current information, recent articles, news, and online resources about any topic using semantic search.

When to enable:

  • Need up-to-date information beyond Storytell's training data

  • Research current events or recent developments

  • Verify facts against authoritative online sources

  • Gather multiple perspectives on a topic

When to disable:

  • Want responses limited to training data and your documents

  • Need to restrict internet access for compliance or security

  • Prefer to provide source materials yourself

🚀 Pro-Tip: Web Search is ideal for time-sensitive information like recent news, current trends, or newly published research.

Web Page Fetch

Reads and analyzes specific URLs you provide to extract detailed content from web pages.

When to enable:

  • Frequently share URLs for Storytell to analyze

  • Need detailed information extracted from specific websites

  • Work with online documentation or resources

  • Want comprehensive analysis of web content

When to disable:

  • Don't need URL analysis capabilities

  • Want to restrict which external sources can be accessed

  • Prefer to paste content directly into conversations

Project Knowledge

Searches and analyzes your uploaded documents to extract information and answer questions based on your content. You cannot disable this tool

🚀 Pro-Tip: You can control which knowledge Storytell searches for. read:

Image Generation

Creates custom images using specialized AI image generators. When enabled, you can request images and Storytell will select the most appropriate generator for your needs.

Three generators available:

  • DALL-E 3 - Fast, versatile creation for artistic and creative imagery

  • Banana (Gemini Flash) - Best for images with readable text and character consistency

  • Imagen 3 - Superior photorealism for product photography and visualization

When to enable:

  • Create marketing materials or visual content

  • Generate illustrations or concept art

  • Need product photography or realistic renders

  • Design graphics with text or data visualizations

When to disable:

  • Don't create visual content

  • Prefer to source images externally

Charts

Charts lets Storytell generate data visualizations and charts directly from your data, making it easy to turn numbers into clear, visual insights.

When to enable

  • You want to visualize data from your uploaded documents or prompts

  • You need charts for reports, presentations, or analysis

  • You want quick, clear visual summaries of complex datasets

When to disable

  • You don’t need charts or visual data outputs

  • You prefer to create visualizations manually in other tools

Presentations

Presentations allows Storytell to automatically create slide decks from your content, helping you quickly turn information into structured presentations.

When to enable

  • You want to generate slides from documents, prompts, or research content

  • You need ready-to-use presentations for meetings, reports, or proposals

  • You want to save time on slide formatting and organization

When to disable

  • You don’t need presentation outputs

  • You prefer to create slide decks manually

Agents

Agents enable Storytell to delegate complex tasks to specialized AI agents, each optimized for specific types of work. When enabled, Storytell can automatically choose the right agent for your task, or you can explicitly select agents using @AgentName in your prompts.

Three specialized agents available:

  • Explorer - Web research specialist for external information gathering and fact-checking

  • Librarian - Internal knowledge specialist for exploring and analyzing uploaded documents

  • Researcher - Multi-source research specialist combining web and internal knowledge

When to enable:

  • Working on complex multi-step tasks that require multiple tool calls

  • Need specialized research capabilities (web, internal, or both)

  • Want to break down large tasks into manageable steps

  • Tasks benefit from parallel execution across multiple agents

  • Need structured planning before executing complex workflows

When to disable:

  • Working on simple tasks that only need 1-3 tool calls

  • Want all work handled directly by the main agent

  • Prefer to avoid the overhead of agent delegation

  • Tasks are straightforward and don't require specialized handling

How to use agents:

  1. Automatic selection: With agents enabled, Storytell automatically chooses the right agent for your task

  2. Explicit selection: Type @ in your prompt and select Explorer, Librarian, or Researcher to specify which agent to use

  3. Agent badges: Selected agents appear as violet badges in your prompt - hover over them to remove if needed

🚀 Pro-Tip: For complex research tasks, explicitly mention @Researcher to combine both web and internal knowledge sources in a single comprehensive analysis.

💡 Tip: Agents operate with their own context windows and execution limits, allowing them to handle sophisticated workflows that would exceed a single agent's capabilities. This enables parallel execution and specialized expertise without overwhelming the main agent.
