Storytell includes a dedicated Manage Labels panel that makes it easy to organize, edit, delete, and sort your Labels. This guide walks you through accessing Label settings, customizing existing Labels, removing Labels you no longer need, and sorting them based on your workflow.

Accessing Label Settings

  1. Open any Project in Storytell to begin working within the workspace where your Labels are applied.

  2. Open the Knowledge panel from the left-hand sidebar.

  3. Click the gear icon in the top-right corner of the Knowledge panel to open Knowledge Settings, where you can access and manage all Label-related controls.

Once the settings panel opens, you can begin managing your Labels.

Sorting Labels

Within Manage Labels, you can sort your Labels in three ways:

  • By Label Name — Organize your Labels alphabetically to find them quickly.

  • By Number of Assets — View Labels ordered by how many assets are tagged under each one.

  • By Date Created — See your newest or oldest Labels first.

To sort your Labels:

  1. Click the column name for the criterion you want to sort by.

  2. Check the arrow that appears next to the column header to see whether the sorting is ascending or descending.

Sorting Labels helps you efficiently navigate large sets of Labels, keeping your workspace organized and making it easier to locate specific Labels in research-heavy or asset-heavy projects.

Editing Labels

You can fully customize any Label. To edit a Label:

  1. Open Manage Labels.

  2. Click the pen icon (editor) on the right side of the Label you want to modify.

  3. In the editor, you can update:

    • Label Name

    • Label Description

    • Label Color

    • Label Icon

  4. Once you’ve made your changes, click Update.

Your Label will refresh instantly across Storytell.

Editing Labels makes it simple to standardize naming, adjust visual markers, add descriptions for clarity, and reorganize project taxonomy.

Deleting Labels

If you need to remove a Label:

  1. Open Manage Labels.

  2. Click the Delete button on the right side of the Label you want to remove.

  3. Confirm the deletion in the prompt that appears.

⚠️ Important: Deleting a Label will remove it across all files and assets in your Project. Use caution, as this action cannot be undone.

Deleted Labels will no longer appear in your workspace.
