Overview

🚀 Pro-Tip: When writing a prompt, you can use the @symbol to at-mention views, labels, concepts or assets to put them into the scope of your chat. Give it a try!

Scope management in Storytell allows you to select which assets, concepts, and labels Storytell should use when responding to your queries. Instead of searching through all your uploaded knowledge, you can focus Storytell's attention on specific, relevant materials for more targeted and efficient responses.

Before you start:

By default, Storytell’s scope is set to All Knowledge, meaning all uploaded files in your knowledge base. You can modify this scope by removing it manually or by changing your scope through the methods below

How to add scope

  1. Click the scope indicator button on your prompt bar

  2. Check the boxes next to the files and/or concepts you want to include in your scope

How to remove scope

Clear all items from scope

To remove all items from your scop at once, click the Clear all option next to your scope summary.

Remove individual items

To remove specific items from your scope, return to the scope management interface by clicking scope indicator and uncheck the items you no longer want included. The checkmark (☑) will be removed from deselected items.

Verification

After managing your scope, you should see:

  • The scope indicator shows the correct number of files (e.g., "3 files in scope")

  • Selected files display as small chips in the prompt bar

  • The scope manager remembers your selections when reopened

Tips and best practices

  • Be strategic with scope selection: Choose assets and concepts that are most relevant to your specific question for better, more focused responses

  • Use search effectively: When you have many assets, use the search function with specific keywords to quickly find relevant materials

  • Monitor scope size: While you can add multiple items, consider whether all selected items are truly necessary for your query
